Beautiful photos at the Norfolk Guest House and an outdoor camping wedding at Guelph Lake Conservation Area on the Island.
I like when people think outside the box of what is traditional for a wedding. It can create an interesting and very personal experience. These two love the outdoors and spend a lot of time exploring and identifying plants. During their engagement session we looked at trees and I knew they were avid outdoors people.
They came up with the idea of doing a camping wedding! You can rent out the island at Guelph Lake Conservation area; like the whole island to have your wedding on. Tents littered the island everywhere you looked. There was a campfire and all the cute camping details you could think of.
Norfolk Guest House Bed and Breakfast
I started the day with Kristyn in this little bed and breakfast in the heart of Guelph called the Norfolf Guest House. It was a photographers dream to shoot in. Her bridesmaids helping everyone where they could.
We then headed to the Arboretum by the University of Guelph to do their first look. Kristyn was super excited to show Brandon her dress as she had been telling him about it all week. I will not forget Brandon’s reaction when he turned around. He lost it crying because she looked so beautiful and this was all real. He couldn’t stop gushing.
The Guelph Lake Conservation Area is an amazing and hidden gem for wedding venues in Ontario. You can have your wedding in fields, forests and lakeside.
We headed over to the pavilion on the island where their ceremony was being held. Brandon had a surprise that he forgot to let me know about; a horse drawn carriage! Luckily I caught him before Kristyn arrived and he told me about it. I could get myself together from my excitement so i didn’t spoil the surprise. Its an understatement to say she was overcome with what Brandon did. I mean its fairy tale material.
Guelph Lake Ceremony
The ceremony was stunning and they had all their family and friends there. Running through all their hands and love at the end was a special moment. The guelph lake island has so many great spots to photograph in and we took advantage a couple of times through out the night. Stealing them away for a few moments to grab that last bit of sunlight that was the pinkest I’ve ever seen. Bonus points for their first dance being a slowed down version of Jurassic park. The song then changed into an upbeat song that they had coordinated dance to. At the end of it all it was a glorious wedding at guelph lake. My personal favourite thing about their day was their constant smiles for each other. I can see them being old and grey and still hopelessly in love. They are going to be that older couple you secretly hope you are when you are that age.

This large park (1,600 hectares) surrounds a reservoir that was created with the construction of Guelph Dam in 1974. The park has two beaches, picnic areas, great fishing and plenty of space for sailing, canoeing and kayaking.
